Recipe: HCG Lasagna Phase 1 Recipe

Summary: This is a phase 1 hcg lasagna recipe that substitutes ricotta with provolone. An excellent lasagna family recipe prepared by my Mother In Law.

Ingredients

  • 1.5 lbs Ground Beef
  • 3/4 lbs Sausage
  • 4 cups Tomato Sauce
  • 6 oz. Tomato Paste
  • 1 pkg. Wide Lasagna Noodles
  • 16 oz. Mozzarella Cheese
  • 12 oz. Provolone Cheese
  • 6 oz. Parmesan Cheese
  • 2 Tbsp. Olive Oil
  • 2-3 Garlic Cloves
  • 1 tsp. Oregano
  • Salt and Pepper

Instructions

  1. Saute garlic in olive oil until lightly browned.
  2. Add ground beef and sausage.
  3. Brown Meat.
  4. Pour off excess grease.
  5. Add tomato sauce, tomato paste and spices.
  6. Simmer on low for 15-30 minutes to incorporate flavors.
  7. Boil lasagna noodles. (Do not over cook!)
  8. Grate cheeses.
  9. When noodles are done, butter a 9×13 pan.
  10. Layer in this order:
  11. Layer 1 – Meat Mixture
  12. Layer 2 – Noodles
  13. Layer 3 – Cheese
  14. Layer 4 – Meat
  15. Layer 5 – Noodles
  16. Layer 6 – Cheese
  17. (Meat – Noodles – Cheese)
  18. Parmesan Cheese reserved for the top layer.
  19. Heat in oven at 375 for 15-25 minutes or until the sides are bubbly.

Quick notes

You WILL enjoy this lasagna recipe. It’s a favorite within my family and my Mother-In-Law can make a killer batch!

The substitution of the provolone cheese for the ricotta makes a really nice and unique difference.

You’ll notice there is no spinach (optional)…yup, this one’s healthier than the rest. That’s what makes it so delicious!

Variations

I don’t recommend too many variations to this lasagna hcg phase 1 recipe, as it’s already fantastically delicious.

Wait a minute…you may actually want to prepare a nice buttery garlic bread to compliment the dish!

You may not want to make it because you’ll long for it the entire time you’re on phase 2!
